Where do you take an online date for the first time?

You’ve been talking to an enticing, attractive woman online the past few weeks and the two of you have been getting to know each other but you feel it’s time to get offline and discover one another in real life.

You have both agreed to meet on a specific date but haven’t made up your minds on the location. You have been contemplating the perfect venue and activities for a first meet. So where does one take an online date for the first time?

Remember this is your first meeting, not a first date. Everything you know about your date so far is what she’s told you. But this is the time you get to actually witness everything for yourself. You will get to discover if the connection you felt online does translate to actual chemistry between the two of you.

If you’re thinking of an intimate dinner date, let’s stop you there. Just because you couldn’t stop chatting online throughout the night doesn’t mean your face time is gonna pan out the same. So let’s save the quiet corners for when you’ve really established that comfort with one another.

Wherever you go, make sure that there are people around you. With all the horror stories out there about predators preying on their victims under circumstances such as “first time meet-ups”, you might end up creating more suspicion than intrigue by suggesting to go to a dark, secluded area. This, however, does not mean that you have to take her to a packed out bar with a deafening sound level. Remember you’re both trying to learn more about each other and see if you can take it to the next level, so make sure that wherever you go, you can both hear what the other one is trying to say.

Keep it casual, nothing has to be over the top. You definitely want to make an impression but you don’t have to go to an expensive venue and you don’t want to end up looking like a cheap, careless guy either.

If dinner seems like a probable cause for an awkward evening, you can set a lunch date where you have the option of either creating an excuse to cut it short or elongate it to spending an entire afternoon together, all depending on what you make of each other in the few hours of meeting.

If you two have common interests, then you have your work cut out for you. Be it sports, art, science, history or any other field that you both share a mutual interest in, you can overcome the biggest fear, lack of things to talk about or enjoy together.

People have different opinions about going to the movies on a first meet. After all, the “first meet” is about getting to know one another, not spending an hour and a half staring silently at a screen. But just because you’re trying to know more about one another doesn’t mean it has to turn into a boring non-stop chatter. Askmen.com, suggests changing movie for a theatre where you can have small breaks to chat while nibbling on small snacks or sipping on some wine.

Askmen.com also recommends live comedy shows but warns “Never get up and do your own, even if you are a self-proclaimed comedy genius.”

If your date is the outdoors loving type, taking a walk might be another great way to enjoy the company of one another. This gives you the opportunity to talk and enjoy the scenery while helping avoid an awkward atmosphere and providing a public sighting.

There are no rules or restrictions when it comes to first time dates. You can always use your creative imagination and come up with something unique. Just make sure that it won’t freak her out, push her away or get you in jail. And don’t forget, have fun!
